Type of Racism
Student Companion to Richard Wright by Robert Felgar, Born in rural Mississippi, the grandson of slaves, Richard Wright overcame every social obstacle, including poverty, racism, and limited education to achieve literary recognition as the creator of some of America's most powerful Black literature. Written with unprecedented candor, Wright's works changed the cultural landscape by challenging old stereotypes and myths about race. Wright scholar Robert Felgar has written a critical volume to help students appreciate the literary significance of such groundbreaking works as Native Son and the autobiographical Black Boy. This study serves students of both literature and social history as it explores the themes of racism and all types of institutionalized oppression that Wright exposed in his provocative writing. Felgar approaches each of Wright's major works in chronological order, offering insightful literary analysis of Uncle Tom's Children, Native Son, Black Boy, and The Outsider, as well as Wright's two works published posthumously, Eight Men, a collection of stories, and Lawd Today! The original, censored works are discussed and compared with the more recently republished unexpurgated versions.
Dancing With Bigotry: Beyond the Politics of Tolerance by Donaldo P. Macedo, One of the most pressing challenges facing educators in the US is the specter of an "ethnic and cultural war"--a code phrase that engenders our society's licentiousness toward racism. In "Dancing with Bigotry, Donaldo Macedo and Lilia Bartolome use examples from the mass media, popular culture, and politics to illustrate the larger situations facing educators and how this type of argument is ignored in much of the academic research and rhetoric. They also examine why it is essential to take on the sources of "mass public education." By shunning the mass media, educators are missing the obvious--more public education is done by the media than by teachers, professors, or anyone else. This book sheds light on the ideological mechanisms that shape and maintain the racist social order, while moving the discussion beyond the reductionist of white versus black impasse.

Bugatti Type 51 - The Type 51 series succeeded the famous Type 35 as Bugatti's premier racing car for the 1930s. Unlike the dominant Type 35s of the prior decade, the Type 51 (and later Type 53, Type 54, and Type 59) were unable to compete with the government-supported German and Italian offerings. Bugatti Type 49 - The early Bugatti 8-cylinder line began with the 1922 Type 30. The same basic design was used for the 1926 Type 38 as well as the Type 40, Type 43, Type 44, and Type 49.

Many social scientists therefore view race as a way of justification for the slavery and oppression forced on humans, of what was called another race, from non-European nations. A justification which was otherwise impossible, from a humane aspect. For the many types of competitive sport, see racing.
